Maldives – located off the southwestern tip of India not far from the equator – is a Republic consisting of s conglomeration of 26 natural island clusters fourteen of which have lagoons. These island clusters are grouped into 19 administrative districts known as “atolls.” While the vast majority of the population displays prominent Aryan features, others show strong evidence of Dravidian, Arab, or Negroid origin.
