Burkina Faso
With a population of nearly 11,000,000 souls, this densely populated land-locked West African nation has its capital at Ouagadougou (the former capital of the Mossi empire). Once known as Upper Volta (Haute Volta), the major ethnic groupings are the Mossi, Gourma, Bobo, and Fulani. Though French is the official language, Moré, Dioula, Fulani and Gourmantche are also spoken as mother tongues. BLACFOUNDATION interest here includes all of these groups.
