Malaysia

Comprising a peninsula just south of Thailand and a portion of the island of Borneo, the Republic of Malaysia is home to a number of different ethnic groups, among which one finds Malays, Chinese, Dayaks, and Indians. Though the Malay and Dayak cultures have many fascinating elements, BLACFOUNDATION interest here focuses around the various Negrito groups which, though small in number, do not appear to be in danger of extinction to the same degree as the Negrito Andaman Islanders of India. Known derogatorily as Sakai, they still inhabit parts of the jungle interior of the peninsula. Other names for these groups are Semang, Senoi, and Tembe.
