Philippines

Philippines – an archipelago with some 7,107 islands, a total land area of 307,055 sq. kilometers, and a population of over 70 million souls – is a fascinating country to visit. Though Tagalog is the National language, English is widely spoken. Of particular interest to the BLAC FOUNDATION are the numerous Negrito groupings (variously known as Aeta, Agta, Mamanwa, Batak, etc.) which are located in many of the islands of the archipelago. For more about the Negrito groups see Dr. Powe’s The Negritos of the Phillipines, Book I: The Aeta of Bataan and Book II The Mamanwa of Mindanao .
