A former French colony, Senegal has a population of over 13,000,300. Although French is the official language, it is eclipsed in spoken scenarios by the lingua franca, Wolof, which is spoken by some 80%  if not more of its inhabitants. Of particular interest to the Foundation are: the butterfly wing art of Papa Cise; the sous verre art work of St. Louis, and the sand board art of Dakar (the nation’s capital). For examples of these art forms see the relevant file under papers submitted.
