Senegal
A former French colony, Senegal has a population of over 13,000,300. Although French is the official language, it is eclipsed in spoken scenarios by the lingua franca, Wolof, which is spoken by some 80% if not more of its inhabitants. Of particular interest to the Foundation are: the butterfly wing art of Papa Cise; the sous verre art work of St. Louis, and the sand board art of Dakar (the nation’s capital).
